At St. Paul Lutheran Church, we welcome everyone with open arms. Whether you're new to the area or have been attending church for years, we invite you to become a part of our church family. Get Involved

Outreach

Food Pantry – We collect money and food for our local Food Pantry and work there to help distribute food on the 3rd Thursday and Friday quarterly.

​

Foreign Mission Support – We have a relationship to a sister congregation in Peru supporting their ministries and to the Lutheran Church in the Central African Republic. We support a missionary Dina Anton de Espinoza in Peru.  Trips have been taken by members to Peru and by our Pastor to Africa.

​

Ministerial Alliance – we work in cooperation with local churches to assist those in need in our community.

​

Stephen Ministry – At St. Paul we have trained Stephen Ministers. They work with individuals in our community and church to nurture, bring hope and work towards healing.

​

Lutheran World Relief Ministry – The ladies in our church meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month They gather together to make quilts, health kits, school kits and sewing kits to send overseas.

​

Help”ers – Do minor repairs, painting, mowing and building ramps for people in the community.

​

Meals that Heal – This group of people provide meals to individuals after they are released from the hospital.

​

Operation Prom Dress – Provides new and gently new prom dresses donated for members of the community in Columbus, Eagle Lake, and surrounding areas. Girls are able to get a prom dress for no charge. 

​

Blood Drives - In our spacious Lighthouse three times a year we encourage members and people from the community to give blood to the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center.

 

National Night Out- Our congregation encourages our whole community to come out on the first Tuesday in October every year.  We have live music, food and refreshments for people to enjoy while visiting each other.  We have mule rides, face painting as well.  This is a time our first responders all come out and mingle with the community as well.

 

Christmas Caroling- The Sunday before Christmas we as a congregation head out to sing to local shut-ins at their homes as well as to the three Nursing Care facilities in Columbus.

  

God's Work, Our Hands is a National ELCA outreach program where we do projects in the community to enhance the lives and property of our city.  We normally have over a hundred people working in several areas around time and also for those unable to be out doing physical laborious projects, we have them stuffing care packages for the Boys and Girls Club and for first responders.

Habitat for Humanity-  we help to build, paint and get ready homes working alongside the family that will inhabit the home.  This National program provides opportunities for people to move into a home and for many, for the first time.    

​

Feed my Sheep provides fresh produce to those in need.

Evangelism

Assisting Communion and visitation ministers – This is a group of trained people who visit our local nursing homes and shut-ins to bring them the healing presence of Jesus Christ through visits, prayers and the distribution of Holy Communion.

​

Prayer Team – On the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays each month, members of the church gather together to pray for people and their needs, as well as things happening in our community and beyond.  We are serious about the power of prayer at St. Paul.

​

Bereavement Team – provides for families and individuals after the loss of a loved one; from meals, care baskets, or printed materials to help in the grief process. 

​

Welcome Team – These folks work to make sure people are invited, welcomed and plugged into ministry opportunities at church.

Stewardship

This team works with the time, talents and treasures given to St. Paul through its members and others to support not only the ministry of St. Paul, but many other organizations, groups and individuals.  From financial support to Texas Lutheran University; Tree House Ministries, a campus ministry at Texas A & M and Blinn College; Luther Hill a camping ministry site outside of LaGrange Texas;  Brenham Mission Society; Habitat for Humanity; Lutheran Seminary of the Southwest; Gideon’s; and World Hunger, to name a few.

Fellowship

This team plans and provides opportunities for people to get together to enjoy each other’s company, usually around food, and lots of it.  Besides dinners at church, God’s Gals meets the last Sunday of each month to go out to dinner.  Christmas Caroling also gives a large group of people a chance to sing their favorite Christmas songs and bring smiles to shut-ins and Nursing Home residents.

​

God's Gals - gives women in the church an opportunity to gather together for supper at different venues on the last Sunday of each month.

​

Senior Explorers - Senior Explorers exists to provide older members of our church (50+) with the opportunity to connect with each other and God while exploring our world. Outings are planned bi-monthly. Join us for fun, faith and fellowship.

Education

Sunday Morning Bible Study meets at 10am. David's "Adult" Bible Study is held in the library. 

​

Noon Bible Study meets every Tuesday at 12pm.

​

Wednesday Night BLAST (Believing, Living And Sharing Truth) will be held every Wednesday night during the school year from 5:30pm-6:30pm for ages PreK-High School.

​

Morning Circle meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 9am. 

​

Men in Mission meets the 1st Saturday of each month at 7am for breakfast, bible study and service projects for the church and the community at large.

​

The Gathering this young adult group meets the 2nd & 4th Sunday of the month from 6pm-8pm for food, fellowship and devotion.

​

Women of Joy meets the 2nd and 4th Mondays at 6pm in the Youth Room for Bible Study.

​

Women's Morning Circle meets Sunday mornings at 10am in the library

​

Manna for Moms meets the 2nd and 4th Thursdays 10am in the Lighthouse. This small group is for moms of young children to come together for devotion and support. 

​

Greif Support Group meets the 3rd Thursday at 5:30pm in the library.

Youth

Our youth ministry program provides Christian educational outings and service projects for different aged groups to build relationships together and experience life, values and the teachings of Jesus Christ.  A few activities in the past have included Planting Trees in Bastrop, Lutherhill Workday, Paint Ball, Ice Skating, Bowling, Corn Maze, Splashway, Planetarium, Zoo Trip, Trail of Lights, National Youth Gathering, Jr. High Gathering, Confirmation Camp at Sky Ranch in Colorado and the annual Matagorda Coast Retreat.

Crescendo is a program that encourages youth participation to enhance our worship services. When a special presentation by the youth takes place, we give a $50 donation to the charity of their choice. This promotes the use of their special gifts and benefits not only the congregation but also the people in our community and beyond

St. Paul Christian Learning Academy

St. Paul Christian Child Care Center is a ministry of St. Paul Lutheran church to provide Christian centered care for children from newborns to school age and in between. St. Paul Lutheran Child Care and Preschool, ministers to families with young children by providing an excellent school in a Christian atmosphere of love, acceptance and respect.
